These reflections have been prompted by a long discussion on social media over ‘toxic masculinity’ versus ‘toxic femininity’.

As a Shamanic Healer with 25 years of experience, I have come to understand that the traits which are deemed ‘toxic’ by the opposite sex, are very often the result and consequence of deep wounding.

So now, when I hear the phrase ‘toxic masculinity’, I re-contextualise that as ‘the wounded masculine’, and likewise, the reference to ‘toxic femininity’ is equally contextualised as ‘the wounded feminine’.

When we understand that all dysfunctional behaviour is the result of wounding, we allow space for compassion to creep in, where before we may have felt victimised or attacked by the opposite sex.

We are living in times where there are ever increasing amounts of Energetic Shrapnel flying around our world, and in our daily lives.

This can come from many different sources, and it can be unintentionally as well as intentionally projected out, sometimes landing randomly on unsuspecting people as they make their way through life.  But sometimes it is targeted and intended to cause harm and sabotage in specific ways.  And sometimes, it comes through channels or ‘agents of the universe’ who transfer this detrimental energy without consciously knowing that they are acting as a vehicle or a channel for such harm.

I’m going to be frank here, because I am a straight-talking person.  I don’t sugar-coat things, I don’t beat around the bush, and I am going to be upfront about this because it is becoming increasingly clear to me that the whole of Humanity...

As a member of many Online Shamanic Groups, I am constantly dismayed at some of the opinions shared, that Shamanism demands that you give up your life and go and live in the jungle for 10 years with indigenous people to learn the ‘proper Shamanic ways’.

In my view, Shamanism is The Call to and from your own Soul to remember and reconnect with the Great Spirit and Mother Earth in whatever way works for you in your current reality.

I’d love to have a spare 10 years to go and live in the Amazonian jungle with a ‘Proper Shaman’ to learn their ways.  But I don’t!!

I am a mother of 3 children under 11 and my biggest responsibility is to them.

My own focus has been about creating food abundance in my garden, and generating more financial abundance, as I return to work and get the income generating wheels spinning again !
